By S Adeeb Mujtaba Ali

Welcome to Revisiting session

Isolation  the state of being in a place or situation that is separate from others Merriam Webster

Physical distancing: the tendency to avoid close contact with others

Body language exposes our relationship to others. There is the confident demeanor of the self-assured, the plodding gait of the downhearted and the physical distancing that characterizes fear.

— Marcia Manna

… JFK was notable for his physical distancing—part of his immense, glamorous reserve. He hated crowds—of course, with good reason—while expertly playing them like a grand piano.

— Robert Whitcomb

specifically, medical

: the practice of maintaining a greater than usual physical space between oneself and other people or of avoiding direct contact with people or objects in public places during the outbreak of a contagious disease in order to minimize exposure and reduce the transmission of infection : SOCIAL DISTANCING

The main thing that we can all do, is what is called social distancing. I like to use the phrase 'physical distancing.' … Now you're going to be spending much more time in your house, spending time away from people … to limit transmission of the COVID virus. Physical distancing takes away the idea we can still talk to loved ones …

— Adam Rosh

The WHO added that they were now using the term "physical distancing" rather than "social distancing" to describe the importance of maintaining space between people in order to avoid the spread of the virus.

— Manon Da

Merriam Webster

Quarantine: a state, period, or place of isolation in which people or animals that have arrived from elsewhere or been exposed to infectious or contagious disease are placed.

Oxford language

Know that medication except for vaccination and anti-viral drugs would not work against a virus.
It is not important that drugs or remedies which worked for one person will work on another person, since we all are individual with specific body type and body requirements.

Corona virus is found to be mutating rapidly therefore a single vaccine or its single dose won't suffice.

Please say no to other drugs specially steroids they will worsen the situation.

Instead of panicking, work on building your immunity.

Eat healthy, excercise, stay fit, follow covid norms.

Do not travel to places where more covid cases are reported.

A healthy immune system can only be trusted in the present times.

What is immunity and immune system?

In simple terms, immunity is the ability of our body which fights with disease causing agents.

Immune system comprises of all the tools which builds up immunity.

If each one of us do our bit sincerely, we can make a difference and overcome the situation.

  1. Great blog and very well written! In my view public awareness must be improved to be prepared for epidemic and pandemic situations and comprehensive public health education programs are important to increase awareness and to reach sufficient knowledge in suburbs and villages.

Mucormycosis: 2021 Epidemic ???

It would be unjustifiable for me to not chronicle this issue as a microbiologist.                                            Image credits:  Pathology Outlines - Zygomycetes Mucormycosis (formerly known as zygomycosis) is a severe but uncommon fungal illness caused by mucormycetes, a kind of mould. Molds may be found in many kinds of places. Mucormycosis is a fungal infection that mostly affects persons who have health issues or who use medications that reduce the body's capacity to resist infections and illness. After breathing fungal spores from the air, it most often affects the sinuses and lungs. It can also happen after a cut, a burn, or any other form of skin damage. While we work to defend ourselves against COVID-19 and live with it, there is another threat posed by a fungus that we must be aware of and respond to. During or after recovery, a few COVID-19 patients ha...

Counseling psycology: History

By S Adeeb Mujtaba Ali Since the dawn of society, counseling has been an important part. Right from grandparents to parents advising other family members followed by providing guidance to residents by community leaders, counseling has always been an important and organic part of the human experience. During the Industrial Revolution era when people and their mobility increased by migrating to other lands, the traditional essence of counselors was lost due to separation from their families and communities. Following which there was a communication gap, people started feeling isolated and led them to approach for psychiatric help or landing to asylums.  In present times people started opting for modern psychiatry, which is nothing but professional counseling, a current trend taking rounds to keep a check on mental health. However, the presence of inefficient mental health institutes led to, a mental hygiene movement —headed by a cohort of psychiatrists,...

Practical learning vs theoretical learning

The most contentious topic of discussion: theory vs. practical knowledge. Some believe that students should study more about practical courses such as computer degree programs, technical degree programs, and so on. Others, however, believe that students should learn about theoretical subjects such as history and science. But first, let's know what this term implies, and what theory is. In our educational system, theories about knowing basic life fundamentals meet with any topic, such as science, mathematics, english, geography, and history. Theoretical knowledge, then, is the understanding of what is true. Theoretical knowledge may assist you in comprehending the underlying notion and understanding how something works and how it works. The term "theoretical knowledge" refers to learning something without applying it in practice. It explains why one is more successful and the other is unsuccessful. Theoretical knowledge may help you grasp a notion better by allowing you t...
