Mucormycosis: 2021 Epidemic ???

It would be unjustifiable for me to not chronicle this issue as a microbiologist.                                            Image credits:  Pathology Outlines - Zygomycetes Mucormycosis (formerly known as zygomycosis) is a severe but uncommon fungal illness caused by mucormycetes, a kind of mould. Molds may be found in many kinds of places. Mucormycosis is a fungal infection that mostly affects persons who have health issues or who use medications that reduce the body's capacity to resist infections and illness. After breathing fungal spores from the air, it most often affects the sinuses and lungs. It can also happen after a cut, a burn, or any other form of skin damage. While we work to defend ourselves against COVID-19 and live with it, there is another threat posed by a fungus that we must be aware of and respond to. During or after recovery, a few COVID-19 patients ha...

NEP2020 highlights

On July 28th, 2020, the Union Cabinet of India approved India's National Education Policy (NEP). Over the course of more than 50 months of discussions and workshops, the Indian government gathered feedback from 2.5 lakh village-level stakeholders and presented it to two national parliamentary committees after a 34-year break. However, it is unclear to what extent the policy has taken into account recommendations. In the midst of a slew of op-eds and commentaries on the NEP, this piece tries to look at the policy through the eyes of practitioners.  1. Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE):  Extends the eligibility window for the Right to Education from 6 to 18 years old. The policy promotes universalization of ECCE with the goal of having 100 percent of children "school-ready" by 2030. Investment in play equipment and child-friendly structures, as well as CPD for ECCE instructors and Anganwadi workers through a six-month certification program with some online component...

COVID-19 effect on globalisation.

1. BUSINESS: Without a question, the pandemic has had a significant impact on business, as well as buying and selling as a means of making money. Many corporations and their stockholders are involved in unsuccessful business ventures and are in debt. The manufacturing business, as well as limited corporations, limited liability firms, and general partnerships, are bankrupt. Due to the implementation of lockdown in several nations, just a few department stores are open, and alternatives are restricted. According to research by the International Labour organisation, the covid -19 pandemic has resulted in the loss of work for as many as 41 lakh Indian youngsters (ILO) and 255 million full-time jobs will be destroyed, resulting in a $3.7 trillion loss in labour revenue. Half of the individuals who lost their employment owing to the coronavirus pandemic are still jobless. In 2020, there will be a reduction in working hours, resulting in unemployment and a decrease in labour income. Between ...

What are the opportunities in EdTech?

By S Adeeb Mujtaba Ali EdTech's financial impact Inherently inefficient are traditional education systems. Globally, the education and training industries spend more than $4 trillion, an increase of 84% since 2000. Despite this, reading and math results in the United States have remained constant, despite the fact that it is estimated that 85 percent of every dollar spent on education is spent on its delivery — for example, the price of bricks and mortar and teaching staff. As a result, the link between rising educational spending and improved educational outcomes is shaky, and EdTech has a clear opportunity to lower the cost of traditional education delivery. This is especially true for e-learning methods, which are credited with allowing one-to-many delivery at a lower cost. Cost savings, on the other hand, aren't limited to the world of e-learning. Reliable broadband services, as well as the adoption of other technologies like the Cloud, have made policies like Bring Your Ow...

Types of Education

By S Adeeb Mujtaba Ali Education may take many forms, including assisting individuals in learning new skills and encouraging them to reflect on what they have learned. Educators must also educate students on how to locate and utilize information. Education transmits societal, national, and global information from generation to generation. Education, in particular, aids and guides people in their transition from one social class to the next. Individuals, societies, and nations that have been empowered via education have a competitive advantage over those that are at the bottom of the development pyramid.  Education Types Education encompasses more than what occurs within the classroom's four walls. On the basis of these characteristics, a kid receives education from both his outside and inside school experiences. Formal, informal, and non-formal education are the three major categories of education. Below, we'll go through each of these sorts. Educating Formally Formal education...

Essence of education

By S Adeeb Mujtaba Ali When we think of education, the first thing that comes to mind is knowledge acquisition. Education is a tool that equips individuals with knowledge, skill, technique, and information, allowing them to understand their rights and responsibilities to their families, community, and country. It broadens one's perspective and broadens one's horizons. We learn about the world around us through education. It cultivates a way of seeing life in us. It is the most crucial factor in the country's development. One cannot investigate new ideas unless one is educated. It means that without ideas, there would be no creativity, and without creativity, there would be no nation-building. Education's Importance in Today's Society In today's industrialized society, education is a critical component. To thrive in this competitive society, people require a strong education. People with excellent living standards and education are at the heart of modern society,...

Online platforms for remote learning

By S ADEEB MUJTABA ALI The popular digital learning tools make it easier for students to access course materials while still allowing instructors and coaches to plan the course. In education, learning management systems (LMS) and virtual learning environments (VLE) are becoming more popular. Though there is a time and place for face-to-face instruction, interactive learning and courses are becoming more popular. Not only does this save companies money and make management simpler, but it also allows educators to reach out to students from afar.  This is where online learning services really shine, as reading-based educational platforms that take advantage of new technologies. That isn't to suggest that conventional methods of education are obsolete; rather, academic institutions and companies have realized that we can do a lot more by using technology. Most of us have smartphones or other internet-connected computers, and there are already a plethora of applications aimed at making ...
